Project Management

 

The CDS Global Project Management Department are all PRINCE2 certified, and all projects for local government and private companies are run within the PRINCE2 framework. PRINCE2 is a process-based approach for project management providing an easy to follow framework that is scaleable for all sizes and types of projects. A PRINCE2 project is divided into a number of stages, each forming a distinct and transparent unit for management purposes. The delivery of these products to the agreed quality standards marks the completion of the stage.

Using the PRINCE2 framework provides a structure of management controls to be applied throughout the project; these controls are defined at project initiation to ensure:

• The project is established with clear, defined terms of reference
• There are agreed and measurable objectives
• The management structure for the project is identified

A robust and agreed communication plan is essential for any project and as such one of the project deliverables will be to agree and define the communication plan, this will include the creation of a workspace on CDS Central Desktop that will be accessible to all members of the project team for the lifetime of the project and will be utilised as a central document repository for all relevant project documents.

As part of the communication plan there will be planned project review meetings that will provide an update to the wider project team on the current project status in addition project stage meetings will be held at:

• Project Initation
• Mid-point
• Project Completion

In line with the PRINCE2 methodology, Project Highlight Reports will be generated as agreed within the communication plan and will be used as the basis for discussion for each stage review.
